BRITANNIA (T2A EDITION) MAP0 & MAP1 ENHANCED 100% COMPLETED WORLD

    I announced on my site today the next project that I will be starting on in the coming New Year.

    I will be taking the original Britannia map (the T2A edition to be exact) and upgrading it to take full advantage of my Enhanced Graphics Add-on. Expanding it to the larger ML size format and finally polishing the map, which will include: Removing any unused/unfinished areas in the dungeon space and completely decorating every building and location throughout the map.

    When completed this map will be 100% ready for use on any FREE shard and can be used with or without my Enhanced Graphics Add-on. There will be no need to add in any decorations whatsoever which will free up shard developers to focus on in-game quests and support. This will also speed up servers as they will no longer have to serve all those useless decorations to the players client. This map, when finished, will be offered completely FREE.

    For the enhanced graphic package, is this something that I buy and give to players on my shard, or does each player buy their own copy?

    Once "you" purchase the Enhanced Graphics Upgrade, it is yours and you are able to: use, modify, release to all your players, etc...

    good to know i have been looking at your GUI's and seriously thinking about the maps....
    is there anyway i can add your maps and keep all the original maps as well?
    i want to basically have about 10 facets for my players to run around on...
    is this possible in anyway even through client edits i would be willing to learn if it is possible
    thanks ahead of time :) great work glad to see so many amazing graphics coming to UO

    Thanks so much.

    The only way I know of to add in new maps to the game and still keep the existing maps is to use Ultima Live. I have not personally used Ultima Live myself, but I have other customers that have told me they were able to add in 4-5 of my maps on top of the existing ones so I know it can be done with that program.

    i shall look into it :) if it is relatively easy to use i will defiantly be using your maps :)
    do you also have any sort of HOW TO guides on hand for custom map building since all the guides are outdated for step1 to end map....

    can you offer a list of tools currently available for client 7.0.15.1 for map editing?
    not buildings but like map-land-dungeon ect
    either way thanks so much for your help i have ultimalive running :)
    now for some tests hehe

    I use Paintshop Pro to make my BMP Map images, but Photoshop and many other drawing programs will also work as long as they support a BMP image file that is 8-bit 256 color. then there are 3-4 map generator programs out there, but I've always used Dragon v1.0362 to generate the MUL files from my BMP images. I've not had any need to play or learn others Dragon works perfectly. Then CentrED will allow you to move around your generated map as if you were in-game and make any touchups or fixes that are needed (Dragon is good but not perfect, some fixes will be required).

    Programs are:
    Dragon
    Map Gen2
    UOLandscaper
    Worldforge

    Speaking of which, I could add the Paintshop Pro 5.01 freeware version to your tools section, but it's 17MB... too large Dian?

    Hey Carl maybe you would know these as you do a lot of the custom maps....
    what is the current width and heights of the new map0.uop or the biggest sizes i can use in map generator 2 for a trammel sized map for client 7.0.15.1?

    Hey, The "Original Map0" size was 6144 x 4096 (pixels), and the "New Map0" size is now 7168 x 4096 (pixels) when dealing with BMP image. I don't know off hand if map gen2 works with the new larger map size or not. I use Dragon which only allows for 6144 x 4096 original map size. I use a program called Map Extractor which allows a Map0 to be converted from 6144 x 4096 ==> 7168 x 4096.

    trying to get a good map to start on :) i want LOTS of custom maps and cant wait till payday to get your enhanced :) maybe DVD depends on the payday haha.... would love to have it :)

    map gen 2 *for all who want to know* can only deal max size 768x512 when gen/terrain/altitude witch goes to yes ... 6144x4096

    whats best dragon ver. to use?

    You misunderstand the numbers. The 768 x 512 is the full map.. should actually be 896 x 512 = 7168 x 4096. Those numbers represent the amount of grids of the map. It is the actual map size /8 so a 4096 = 512 and the 7168 = 896. so the 7168x4096 in full size, is 896 x 512 in grid form.

    Not certain now, its been awhile, but I am pretty certain Map Gen2 can create a map any size though.

    The best Dragon version out there is v1.0362 with at least the Mod9 add-on from Ryandor. But the latest version that I know of is my Dragon 1.0362 + Imod13 add-on. I've made my latest version available for free to everyone here on this site under the Ultima Tools section of the site.

    Yep Dian's right. when making the BMP image of your map you are dealing with PIXELS and each "pixel" in the image is 1 "tile" inside the actual game world. So your BMP image will be 6144 x 4096 for original maps size, and 7168 x 4096 for the latest map size. When your dealing with some of the other development tools and map generators (Worldforge, CentrED, MapGen, etc...) they use what are called BLOCKS, and each block consists of 8 tiles. So the maps to those programs mentioned are 768 x 512 blocks for original map size, and 896 x 512 blocks for the latest map size.

    I hope this stuff is helping and we are not confusing you too much. It can get tricky at times. :)

    nope no confusing infarct i have my first terrain.bmp made but now map gen 2 doesn't want to create an altitude.bmp for it any ideas?
