    Hey guys,
I am sure a lot of you that are still around are concerned about whats going on here, and for good reason. I have not been able to really be involved with the Ultima hobby like I thought I would be by now. I honestly never for a moment expected that my absence would have lead to such inactivity around here, and I am sorry for that.

Recently, Ravenwolfe and I discussed a few things, and it was fairly clear that he wanted to drop his role with JustUO, being it was only himself and Zerodowned working on the emulator anymore. (Thanks for being the last guys standing, btw)

As much as that hurts, I understand where they are coming from and really do not have the ability to try to change their minds right now. I am uncertain how much just yet I can really offer around here for time, so I have to accept it.

For now though, JustUO will remain as-is. I pulled the announcement claiming it was no longer in development until I have no other choice or feel that there is no hope for future development. There will not be much development going on for awhile, but I am not going to just accept that its a dead horse, just yet.

Bottom line is, the forums and everything else will remain here regardless of the emulator project. I will leave the door open for JustUO awhile, and have faith that maybe some new blood might want to participate in furthering the development of it. I have a few other ideas as well, even if JustUO does fade away. I have always felt that the RunUO community have been kind of left out all along.. hint hint.

Again, I apologize for my absence. Had I any clue that my being away would have lead to such inactivity and potentially kill JustUO, I would have tried to make a presence one way or another.

So for now, those of you that are still around, dont give up just yet. And I would certainly like to hear anyone's ideas to the subject of JustUO and its future. I will be around off and on, so lets keep a dialogue open!

    Thanks everyone!

I think Justuo needs a new dev team and not let it stop and be on hold for months.

Great to see you back Dian! I hope things are well.

I too would love to have a dialog regarding this subject. I am not aware of any animosity held toward Just UO. We took the decision to start working on ServUO simply because it had an active community. Over there we are trying to figure out how we can best combine efforts for the good of the free shard community.

I love what you are doing with PlayUO. I think it's a great service. And I do like the ease of life features that JustUO offers to shard owners.

But is a separate fork the best way to provide those features? Is it convenient for our users? I think we can work together on a single code base and deliver these features to our users faster and in an easier to consume fashion.

Maybe you have a different opinion. If so it's all good. That's the beauty of open source.

If you would like to work with us please get in touch. I assume you know how to reach Ravenwolfe and Murphy. Send me a pm and I'll give you my Skype contact, our arrange your preferred method of communication.

As a final note, I had offered to act as a product owner for JustUO. That offer is still open if you wish to continue development. It might also help reduce duplication of effort with ServUO as I am also serving this role over there.

Hi, are you still looking for staff? I am an experienced shard decorator and I have also had my own shard before as well as been staff on at least 2 other shards. I have been on UO shards since I was 25 and now am 45 so I am well experienced in all shard ins and outs. If you still need help please let me know.

Hello there Dian, it has been a while now. I recall my first steps in runuo, you were one of the nicest and most helpful member of the runuo community, and seems to me like you haven't lost your touch yet.

When i look at servUO, i can see how it came to the light, runuo was lacking of support and some people wanted to have more space to move the project forward. Then, for a period of time servUO became stalled and justUO was created.

My question here is, given all that have happened during this time, and given that there is certain collaboration between projects (Looking at Vorspire), have you guys tried to talk between you two? As a stranger, what i see is that you both are adding content which both could share, but instead make people choose between one or the other. Why not join forces and revive runUO, or at least continue a project mixing servuo and playuo? For what i can read, you have a hard time looking for differences between both servers, this in my opinion is a clear evidence that you should collaborate.

So, in short: Has been there any attemp of communication between playUO and servUO ?

Many, many attempts ArrrrSecondComing. In fact 99% of those involved with PlayUO/JustUO have continued to be supportive and contribute to ServUO (and vice versa), and code and systems have been shared across both platforms numerous times.

Dian just wishes to continue with his own path with JustUO, which is perfectly fine. Why, would be really only for him to answer.

This was my whole reasoning in moving. It had nothing to do with drama or issues here. I love Dian like a brother, He gave me full control on these forums and a place for the JustUO emulator. Once things settled at ServUO, I decided I wanted the efforts combined on the emulator. Dian has other plans for JustUO and I totally respect that. I gave him full control of the emulator to do whatever he wishes.

This topic is kind of sad really. I like ServUO and I like PlayUO... most people go where the activity is because everyone needs consistency when they put their trust into a distribution because we all, myself included, take our servers way too seriously. It's sort of an unfair catch 22; the developers volunteer their time, but the users expect a solid, and regularly updated, product regardless of whatever issues the webmaster, or his developers, may have in their personal lives.

This always intrigues me since the days of 'hitting it big' making money off Ultima Online emulation are done. If you're still into this it is for the love of the game. In five to ten years, unless someone has developed a way to make our hobby Touch Screen/ Tablet, iOS, Console (xbox one/ ps4), and android friendly, no one is ever going to be able to play our servers because desktops will eventually be faded out as all technology does over time; the days of gaming desktops are numbered.

Now I'm going back to my yacht in Los Santos (GTA V). Have a great night everyone!

cheap desktops are going to be a thing of the past.

IMO desktops aren't going anywhere, too many businesses and developers for them to fade out.

but with consoles becoming more computer-like, cell phones EVERYWHERE, and tablets too...I could see the average person more likely to plug in a keyboard and mouse to their tablet or console.

UltimaXNA seems like the best bet, convert it to Unity or Paradox and then export to PS3/4, android, etc.

I have recently been learning code a lot more. Took a short break in writing.

However if there is anything an intro level programmer can do. Please speak up! Message me anytime or email me at funpwi@gmail.com
I would love to get into the project a lot more than random scripts to entertain players.
There is a ton of fixes Ultima online needs. And I would love the chance to progress my knowledge of coding as well as help our community.
My first ever script was self taught off runUO and I stayed there until it died out and was closed.
Than I came here and took a lot of my systems and theirs and combined them here to make my server a good 30% better!
I love this community and I don't want to see it die like runUO did
